In 2026, the Offender Register reported that Adam Daley, an Uber driver who assaulted a passenger at knifepoint, had been sentenced to 16 years in prison, following the victim’s prompt reporting of the incident.
Police were able to apprehend Adam Daley an hour after the incident in December of last year, after the woman he assaulted immediately contacted the authorities.
Additionally, Daley declined to submit a drug wipe at the time of his detention. Consequently, a blood sample was submitted for testing, and it was subsequently determined to be positive for cocaine.
Due to her prompt reporting, officers were able to conduct enquiries to identify the defendant’s vehicle and monitor its movements via ANPR and CCTV cameras.
Importantly, it also guaranteed the preservation of critical digital and forensic evidence.
This evidence was instrumental in Daley’s conviction, and he was found guilty of one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, one count of possession of a bladed article, and one count of threats to murder after a trial last month.
The 33-year-old resident of Chester Close, Leicester, was sentenced to a total of 16 years of imprisonment at Leicester Crown Court on Friday, July 10. He is also subject to a restraining order that prohibits him from contacting the victim and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) until further notice.
Additionally, he entered a guilty plea to two counts of capturing images of a child during the sentencing process, which officers discovered during the examination of his mobile phone.
He entered a plea of guilty at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 1. He was charged with two counts of narcotic driving. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £80 victim surcharge, as well as to be fined £200 and prohibited from driving for a period of 20 months.
