In 2022, the Offender Register reported that a young woman was dragged into a vacant property and raped by Luke Sargent, a well-known convicted rapist, who has been incarcerated once more.
Luke Sargent had already served a prison sentence for raping a 15-year-old girl on Christmas Day in 2011 when he struck in Selly Oak, Birmingham, earlier this year.
After being convicted of the second rape, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
He was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Police stated following Tuesday’s sentencing that CCTV footage indicated that he had spent some time following groups of women before the 8 June attack.
The trial also heard an audio recording of him threatening to slit the woman’s throat after he seized her as she made her way home.
