In 2022, the Offender Register reported that Darrel Rose, then 36, who was already four years into a seventeen-year sentence for rape, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of eighteen years in prison for committing sex offences against two additional women.
This one will replace his previous sentence. His release will not be considered until the rapist reaches the age of 56.
The victims’ “great bravery and courage” in the face of the “horror” Rose inflicted upon them have been commended by the police.
He has been convicted of seven counts of rape, assault by penetration, and causing an individual to engage in sexual activity without their consent.
Rose, who was previously residing in New Addington, near Croydon, was initially sentenced for a separate rape in February 2018. She has no fixed address.
The police were compelled to pursue the case with an additional woman who had previously accused Rose of rape but had recanted the accusations due to her fear of Rose.
The court heard how the woman, who was referred to as “victim one,” was “viciously sexually assaulted” by Rose at a Sydenham address between December 1, 2010, and February 28, 2011.
He also raped her at an address in Luton between July 1 and July 31, 2011.
A second victim, in her twenties, referred to as ‘victim two’, was raped outside of London and on multiple other occasions between Tuesday, December 1, 2015 and Monday, May 30, 2016.
