In 2022, Abel Mahari, the Lambeth Rapist, was imprisoned for sexually abusing his neighbour while she slept in her south London house.

According to the Met Police, on September 5, last year, Abel Mahari, 35, broke into the Lambeth property and attacked the woman.

After being identified at the site by CCTV and forensic evidence, he was taken into custody.

He was sentenced to four years and three months in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault by touching at Inner London Crown Court.

After the sentencing, the victim said: “Someone coming into your house in the middle of the night and touching you in such an intimate way is something that you think will never happen to you.

“My home is my sanctuary, I felt safe there, and he has taken that away from me.”

She added, “Since this attack, I didn’t want to go outside. I didn’t want unwanted attention from others; I didn’t feel safe being out in the open.

“It has only been in the last couple of weeks that my confidence has started to improve, and I am feeling slightly more comfortable going outside and living my life.”
