In 2023, a former Romford family doctor, Manish Shah, earned two further life sentences after sexually assaulting four women during unwarranted tests.

Last month, Manish Shah was found guilty of 25 sexual assaults at his east London general practitioner’s office in Romford.

Shah, then 53, has already received three life sentences for ninety prior crimes.

On Monday, additional jail sentences were handed down at the Old Bailey, to be served concurrently with previous convictions.

He was found guilty of 115 charges of sexual assault and assault by penetration against 28 women, ages 15 to 34.

Over the course of four years starting in 2009, the court heard that Shah had coerced female patients into having needless intimate examinations for his own sexual enjoyment.

Jurors were informed earlier in his trial that Shah was a “well-regarded” general practitioner partner with frequently full appointments at the Mawney Road practice.

However, the court heard that he used high-profile celebrity cases to convince female patients to have invasive examinations, taking advantage of their fear of cancer.

The two youngest victims, who were 15 and 17 years old when Shah started abusing them, are the subject of his life sentences.
