A Redditch Sex Offender, Steven Liles, who took advantage of his job as a photographer, was sentenced to over eight years in prison for a series of sex and voyeurism charges.
Weatheroak Close paedophile Steven Liles, 60, made an appearance at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, June 26. He had already been found guilty at trial for crimes committed between 2009 and 2019.
After being laid off from a previous position, Liles started working as a freelance photographer and filmmaker for dancing schools and private events throughout the Midlands. He met several of his victims in these capacities.
Liles set up a covert camera in his office and transformed his garage into a photographic studio. He would ask the subjects he was photographing to shift.
Police obtained the video after seizing his gadgets, and he was convicted of three charges of voyeurism during the April trial. Children’s footage is included in two of these tallies, while adult film is included in the third.
Additionally, Liles made friends with mothers and took advantage of their relationship to groom and sexually abuse the young girls. He was convicted on three counts of having intercourse with a minor and one count of assaulting a minor under the age of thirteen.
Judge Jackson referred to Liles as “a deviant behind a mask” and used terms like “targeted,” “groomed,” “sexual predator,” and “false friend” in imposing an eight-year, six-month prison sentence.
