A convicted rapist who “walked out of an open prison” close to Wiltshire is being sought, and the UK authorities need your help to find him.
Danni Stern, who “left” HMP Leyhill on June 11 in Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire, a few miles from the Wiltshire border, is being sought by police.
The 49-year-old, who has prior convictions for robbery and rape, is currently wanted by Avon and Somerset Police after failing to return to prison.
On Friday, June 19, the force updated an appeal to try to find Stern. Anyone who spots Stern in Wiltshire or elsewhere is advised to call 999 rather than approach.
“We are reissuing a wanted appeal and would urge anybody who sees Danni Stern to call 999,” an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson stated.
The 49-year-old was last seen in Bristol Temple Meads at around nine in the morning on Thursday, June 11, and is wanted after failing to return to HMP Leyhill.
Stern is connected to East London, the South, and the South West.
“Do not approach Stern if you see him; instead, call 999 with reference 5226161251 or call 101 with any additional information.”
Stern was last seen wearing a jacket, grey-and-blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms, and a black-and-red top.
The 49-year-old, who stands about 5 feet 10 inches tall, has tattoos, including a dragon on his left calf.
