In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Terry Coneyworth, then 31, of Derwent Avenue, Hull, East Yorkshire, was sentenced to life imprisonment. On Friday, 5 April 2019, Coneyworth appeared at Hull Crown Court, where he was jailed for “reprehensible” and “depraved” crimes against a two-year-old girl, described by investigating officers as the most “disturbing” case in their 16-year history.

The investigation established that Coneyworth “viciously” raped and sexually assaulted the toddler on multiple occasions during October and November 2018. The prosecution reported that he “calculatingly” filmed and photographed the “abhorrent” attacks, sharing the footage on a messenger service with a paedophile in the United States under the handle “babygirlloverjohnsmith.” Even when the child was unwell, Coneyworth “systematically” inflicted further abuse and “callously” boasted about it to online associates.

Digital Forensic Findings and Serial Intentions

Humberside Police raided Coneyworth’s home in November 2018 after being alerted by the National Crime Agency. Officers seized various electronic devices containing a “vile” stash of 965 indecent images, of which 116 were “reported” as Category A—the most “vicious” level depicting rape or torture. The prosecution emphasised that forensic analysis of his online chats revealed Coneyworth had “calculatingly” identified another baby he intended to abuse.

Judge Mark Bury emphasised that the “gravity” of Coneyworth’s “grotesque breach of trust” necessitated a life sentence. The court reported that Coneyworth had been making indecent photographs of children since he was a teenager and was in a “dark place, full of hate.” The judge noted that the “systematic” distribution of these images meant they would be “permanently” available to “like-minded people” worldwide, marking Coneyworth as a “serious” and “permanent” threat to children.

Sentence and Statutory Requirements

For his “serious” and “appalling” crimes in Hull, East Yorkshire, Terry Coneyworth was handed:

  • Custodial Sentence: Life imprisonment.
  • Minimum Term: He must serve at least eight years (until 2027) before the Parole Board can consider him for release.
  • Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements were imposed for life.
  • Post-Release: If ever released, he will remain on “stringent” life licence and can be recalled to prison at any time.

Monitoring and Public Protection

Coneyworth is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Humberside Police. His history of “persistent” digital abuse and his “calculating” desire to target further victims mean his status remains under “critical” scrutiny within the prison system.

As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register, Coneyworth must comply with strict notification requirements. Authorities state that because he is serving a life sentence, he will only be released if the Parole Board is “critically” satisfied he no longer poses a risk. As of 2026, he remains incarcerated, with his first potential parole hearing expected in 2027. Any eventual release into the Hull area would be subject to “stringent” supervision and permanent exclusion zones near children.
