In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Jamie Burke, then 33, of Bourne End, Pangbourne, Berkshire, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 8 August. Burke faces nine charges involving the abuse of children.

The court reported that Burke is accused of five counts of rape of a female child. Some of these are “sample” charges, which represent multiple instances of the act.

Charges and Court Proceedings

In addition to the rape charges, Burke faces:

  • One count of sexual assault of a girl child.
  • One count of inciting a child to look at sexual communications, including images of himself.
  • One count of causing a child to look at images and videos of sexual activity.
  • One count of making indecent images of a child.

The offences are said to have occurred in the Reading area. During the hearing, Burke spoke only to confirm his details.

Jurisdiction and Remand

Because rape is an indictable-only offence, the Magistrates declined jurisdiction. The matters have been sent to Reading Crown Court for a judge to deal with. In a trial, the case will be heard by a jury.

Burke was denied bail and was remanded in custody.

Monitoring and Public Protection

Burke is currently held in custody. His status and the proceedings at Reading Crown Court remain under scrutiny by Thames Valley Police.

If convicted, Burke will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and will be subject to the Sex Offenders Register. Thames Valley Police state that they treat reports of the abuse of children as a priority.
