The Offender Database reported that Michael Montauro, a Stratton St Margaret Domestic Abuser who severely injured his ex-partner, resulting in a fractured arm during a vicious assault, has been cautioned that he is likely to receive an extended prison sentence.
Michael Montauro repeatedly struck the victim, resulting in a dislocated fracture, before threatening her with a baseball bat.
The 28-year-old subsequently strangled her, instilling a dread for her life as she attempted to prevent losing consciousness.
The defendant, designated a dangerous offender in 2010 due to a ‘sickening’ nightclub assault, now confronts additional incarceration.
Michael Montauro, residing on Gifford Road in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon, Wiltshire, entered a plea of guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm. He refuted an allegation of domineering or forceful behaviour.
Rob Welling, for the prosecution, informed Swindon Crown Court that they will not pursue a trial on that charge following the defendant’s admission of assault.
He stated, “There was a dispute between the two amidst a backdrop of discord.”
The defendant struck her in the arm and subsequently delivered further kicks to various parts of her body.
He strangled her to the extent that she began to lose consciousness and thereafter threatened her with a baseball bat. That is the crux of the vexatious elements.
He informed the court that there was a ‘severe X-ray’ indicating a dislocated fracture of her arm that required metal pins for stabilisation.
Judge Peter Crabtree postponed the case until Friday, August 23, to allow for the preparation of a presentence report.
Stating that ‘only extended to the length’ of the term, he requested the probation department to evaluate whether he remains a dangerous offender.
He stated, “This is a profoundly serious case in which the initial consideration is incarceration.”
Your most recent significant offence occurred in 2010, to the best of my memory. I seek to gather more information about you and assess your current level of threat.
In December 2010, he was part of a group of five guys who were incarcerated for a reprehensible, unprovoked assault on a soldier in a town centre club.
In July 2010, the men perpetrated the assault at Liquid and Envy, located near Havelock Square.
CCTV footage from the club depicted all five males assaulting their victim through kicking and punching until stewards intervened.
The soldier, who had a fractured eye socket and underwent the insertion of metal plates in his skull, experienced a significant impediment to his career trajectory.
Imposing a sentence, Judge Douglas Field stated: “All of you participated in this abhorrent assault on this young man in a nightclub, and the violence exhibited is truly alarming to observe.”
This behaviour will not be accepted. This situation is quite grave, and viewing the movie elucidates the severity of the matter.
He sentenced Michael Montauro to four years in prison, with an additional three-year extension, after determining that he presented a substantial danger of major future offences.
His release was contingent upon serving a minimum of two-thirds of the jail sentence and the parole board’s assessment of safety.
Michael Montauro was also on licence and, therefore, under the control of the probation department until the conclusion of the entire seven years.
