In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Mark Shortt, the Birmingham and Canada Paedophile Child Molester, who internet-groomed schoolgirls in Canada, was sentenced to 40 months in prison.

Mark Shortt, then 45, of Honeysuckle Close, Quinton, assumed that his actions would go unnoticed if he focused on girls residing abroad.

What he had not foreseen, however, was that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police would disclose information to us.

Upon discovering that her daughter had been exchanging sexual photographs with one of the Canadian victims, who was masquerading as a 24-year-old, the mother promptly reported the incident to her local police.

The UK Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team was notified to investigate Mark Shortt’s conduct.

Mark Shortt entered a guilty plea and received his sentence on Friday, January 25, at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

He will be permanently registered on the Sex Offender Register.
