In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Katherine Malyon, the Dorset Paedophile Teacher Sex Offender, who exploited a 15-year-old schoolgirl, was incarcerated and registered as a sex offender.
Katherine Malyon, a then 28-year-old teacher from Dorset, participated in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl, sent her graphic messages, and took her on outings, as presented in Bournemouth Crown Court.
The grooming commenced in 2017, when the child disclosed her concerns to Katherine Malyon and requested assistance.
Rob Welling, the prosecutor, stated that the grooming was observed by others at the school, including the headteacher.
Mr Welling stated that Katherine Malyon had received training on safeguarding protocols and was aware of the risks associated with relationships with students.
The headteacher cautioned her multiple times regarding excessive interaction with the girl.
Mr Welling stated that Katherine Malyon kissed the girl, after which the grooming persisted. They communicated clandestinely; Katherine Malyon permitted the girl to visit her residence and accompanied her on an excursion to London.
A court was informed that Katherine Malyon engaged in day outings with the girl to an aquarium and a music festival, during which he had sexual relations with her on at least ten occasions.
Katherine Malyon was suspended in June of the previous year when another student disseminated a photograph of her kissing a girl throughout the school.
In June 2018, the 16-year-old girl informed her mother about the incident after a friend discovered a photograph of her and Katherine Malyon kissing on her laptop. The educator was suspended, and law enforcement was engaged.
Katherine Malyon received a sentence of two years and four months for participating in sexual activity with a minor, along with 16 months, to be served concurrently, on two counts of sexual activity involving a person under 18 while in a position of trust. She acknowledged the offences.
She was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a duration of 10 years, issued a restraining order for 10 years, and subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
