In 2023, the Offender Database reported that Stephen Chant, the Trowbridge Paedophile Child Rapist, a “dangerous sexual predator”, concealed himself in foliage along a secluded trail and struck a young teenage girl on the head before attempting to sexually assault her.

Stephen Chant, then 26, perpetrated assaults against three individuals in Trowbridge from August 2021 to July 2022.

He was sentenced to 17 years in prison at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday after confessing to three attempted rapes.

In his final assault on 25 July, he struck the adolescent on a pathway adjacent to the railway station and attempted to assault her.

Despite her injuries, she retaliated and managed to flee the vicinity of Langford Road when a bystander interfered, according to Wiltshire Police.

Stephen Chant also endeavoured to sexually assault a second adolescent in April 2022 and assaulted a young woman in August 2021.

Stephen Chant, residing on Seymour Road in Trowbridge, was unfamiliar to all of his victims.

In addition to his incarceration, Stephen Chant will serve a five-year probation term.
