In 2018, the Offender Database reported that David Myers, the Newport Paedophile Child Molester, was sentenced to over seven years in prison for perpetrating sexual assaults against a young girl in Newport.
Pensioner David Myers threatened his victim with the prospect of being sent to a juvenile detention facility if she reported the abuse to the police, as presented at the city’s crown court.
Prosecutor James Wilson stated that the victim was left “petrified” following her ordeal with the 71-year-old resident of Darwin Drive, Newport, Wales.
He stated that David Myers informed her that if the police intervened, not only would he be incarcerated, but “she would be sent to juvenile detention.”
Mr Wilson stated that the defendant remarked, “He would attribute the blame to her.”
Judge Daniel Williams was informed that law enforcement had forensic evidence implicating David Myers through the discovery of his DNA profile on the victim’s pants.
David Myers was admitted to two charges of sexual abuse against a minor under the age of 13, perpetrated in 2015.
He first refuted the allegations but subsequently confessed to the acts prior to his scheduled trial this month.
Judge Williams informed David Myers that he was guilty of “sustained” assaults against his victim.
He sentenced him to seven and a half years in prison and mandated an additional 12 months of supervision upon his release from imprisonment.
David Myers was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and instructed to pay a victim surcharge.
