In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Jeffrey Waite, the Sunderland Paedophile Child Molester, a sexual predator who assaulted one young woman and one minor decades ago, then fled to Spain, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Jeffrey Waite, then 66, of South Hilton, Sunderland, assaulted two individuals who described him as a “madman” and an “animal”.
He frequently assaulted one young woman and raped another once after intoxicating her and transporting her to an unoccupied residence.
Judge Sean Morris stated that the girls endured mistreatment that resulted in “significant psychological harm.”
One of the victims attempted suicide subsequently and expressed her fear of Jeffrey Waite.
The other stated that the abuse influenced her throughout her life, affecting her mental health and relationships.
Jeffrey Waite’s trial was scheduled for August 2016; however, he failed to appear, and the proceedings continued in his absence.
The jury acquitted him of indecent assault counts and was unable to reach a verdict on the rape charge.
The second victim emerged, leading to charges of four further rapes against him.
One of the women located him through social media and relayed the information to the police, as their investigation had indicated that he had departed the UK.
Jeffrey Waite travelled through Calais in a camper van, prompting the issuance of a European arrest warrant.
Cleveland Police reported that Jeffrey Waite, previously of Hartlepool, was likely residing near Alicante on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
He established fraudulent social media profiles and maintained communication with individuals from his hometown while residing in a van.
Jeffrey Waite was apprehended in Torrevieja, Alicante, on March 8 of the previous year, detained, and subsequently extradited to the UK.
Acting Detective Sergeant Nicky Barker of Cleveland Police discussed the victim, whom Jeffrey Waite located.
He was in court for a second trial concerning five counts of rape against two victims, which he refuted.
Jeffrey Waite exhibited no response in the dock as the jury convicted him on all charges.
He received a lifelong sexual harm prevention order prohibiting him from contacting the two victims and regulating his interactions with individuals under the age of 16.
Jeffrey Waite will remain on the sex offenders’ registry indefinitely.
