A Police Scotland officer and sex offender, Christopher Ferguson, has been given a sentence of 3 years and nine months in jail at Hamilton Sheriff Court for committing a series of abusive, sexual, and violent crimes.

Christopher Ferguson, aged 31, was convicted on Thursday, 13 June 2024, and subsequently received a non-harassment order as well as a 10-year registration on the sex offenders registry.

He perpetrated multiple assaults on one woman, dictated her attire, monitored her text messages, and confiscated her mobile phone.

Christopher Ferguson was convicted on nine counts, including two charges of voyeurism.

He harassed one of the women with incessant phone calls and messages, presented unsolicited gifts, surveilled her social media, and loitered outside a relative’s residence for her.

Christopher Ferguson transmitted private images of himself to a second woman, frequently yelled and cursed at her, and issued threats to inflict self-harm.

The victim endured many violent assaults, including choking, resulting in injuries on several occasions.

Christopher Ferguson harassed the same woman by persistently surveilling her movements, appearing at her residence, and communicating with her on an active police investigation involving himself.

A third woman was also assaulted multiple times by Christopher Ferguson, resulting in her tumbling down a flight of stairs.

In 2021, Christopher Ferguson was apprehended and accused after a thorough investigation, during which law enforcement agents made aggressive measures to find and approach further possible victims. He was promptly suspended and subsequently resigned.

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston expressed his sympathy for the survivors of Christopher Christopher Ferguson’s heinous assault and praised their courage in reporting the crimes and ensuring his prosecution.

“We acknowledge the challenges of reporting such offences, especially when the perpetrator is a law enforcement officer. However, I want to assure the public that all reports are meticulously examined, regardless of when the offence occurred or the individuals involved.”

“It is imperative that policing is consistently held to rigorous standards, and we will consistently support officers and staff who uphold our core values and standards.” Policing bears the responsibility of establishing and preserving public trust and approval, which is crucial for ensuring the safety of our communities and citizens.

“The occurrence of criminal behaviour or inappropriate conduct by police officers or staff undermines the public’s trust, and individuals who fail to uphold our principles have no place in law enforcement.”
