An individual, Daniel Oldfield Essex Rapist, who assaulted a woman within the confines of her residence has been found guilty of the crimes of rape and sexual assault following a trial that lasted for a duration of two weeks.

Daniel Oldfield, aged 46, trespassed into a residence in northern Essex in April 2022, when he proceeded to intrude into a woman’s bedroom and assault her while she was asleep.

Subsequently, he engaged in non-consensual sexual activity and committed the act of rape against her.

Following the encounter, the woman sought medical attention for a hand injury and informed the hospital staff that she had been assaulted by Daniel Oldfield, without explicitly mentioning that she had been raped.

Essex Police subsequently apprehended Oldfield on the grounds of suspected assault and proceeded to conduct an interview with him.

Daniel Oldfield was placed on the ‘threat to life registry’ as a result of his actions and the claimed attack. This register imposes court restrictions on suspects to limit their behaviour if they fail to cooperate with the authorities.

Det Con Rebecca Welch, a member of the domestic abuse problem resolution team, subsequently reached out to the woman who was assaulted by Oldfield.

In November 2022, the victim reported the rape and sexual assault to Detective Constable Welch and expressed willingness to assist in prosecuting the perpetrator.

Daniel Oldfield was subsequently arrested again that same month and formally accused of rape, sexual assault, and inflicting physical injury, after which he was detained in detention.

Daniel Oldfield, who did not have a permanent residence, was convicted guilty of rape and sexual assault by a majority judgement from a trial jury at Ipswich Crown Court.

The allegation of assault did not result in a verdict.

Daniel Oldfield is expected to receive a substantial prison term when he appears in court again on Monday, October 21.

According to Detective Constable Welch, the woman in this particular instance displayed remarkable courage by providing a statement to the police. Her actions have ultimately ensured these convictions.

“Daniel Oldfield consistently demonstrated a lack of remorse for his crimes and a lack of comprehension regarding the profound impact he has had on this woman.”

“He is currently anticipating a substantial incarceration period.”

Sgt Sonia Mirrington-French, a member of the Colchester domestic abuse squad, expressed her immense pride in the diligent efforts invested by all the officers in our team in handling this case.

“Their unwavering commitment ensured that the woman involved in this incident felt encouraged and assisted throughout her process of reporting it to our organisation.”

“Our work primarily focusses on the perpetrators, and this hazardous individual will be held accountable for his actions. However, our ultimate goal is to provide support to the victims and disrupt the patterns of abuse perpetuated by these offenders.”
