Operation Stovewood: Sageer Hussain, A convicted Rotherham rapist and paedophile sex offender, currently incarcerated, has received a minimal additional sentence following a second conviction.

Sageer Hussain, who sexually assaulted a young teenager in Rotherham approximately 25 years ago, has been sentenced today [11 November] at Sheffield Crown Court.

Sageer Hussain, 40, now serving a 19-year prison sentence for the rape of one girl, received an additional three-year sentence for the rape of a second girl, after an investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The girl frequently observed Sageer Hussain around Rotherham town centre. Between 2000 and 2002, Hussain coerced the girl into an alleyway, asserting that she could not leave unless she engaged in sexual intercourse with him. She declined, but he assaulted her.

Officers from Operation Stovewood, the NCA’s inquiry into accusations of sexual abuse in Rotherham that began in 2014, reached out to the victim upon determining that she may have been sexually abused throughout her childhood.

The woman informed the cops of Sageer Hussain’s actions, and the officers conducted subsequent enquiries that uncovered corroborating evidence.

Investigators of Operation Stovewood subsequently apprehended Sageer Hussain and charged him in February 2024. Hussain was incarcerated at the time, serving a 19-year term for rape and other sexual offences identified in a distinct South Yorkshire Police investigation.

On 23 July 2025, Sageer Hussain was convicted, following a trial in which two co-defendants were also found guilty of raping another female.

The punishment Sageer Hussain received today will be served consecutively to his present term.

Sageer Hussain’s co-defendants, Kessur Ajaib, 44, and Mohammed Makhmood, 43, both from Rotherham, were aged 18 to 20 when they sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl over a span exceeding two years, commencing in 1999.

They are scheduled to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on 21 November.
