In 2022, Ian Ortis, a Southend paedophile, was incarcerated for crimes including the sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
Due to the efforts of POLIT officers committed to safeguarding minors online, the registered sex offender has been incarcerated.
Ian Ortis of Boscombe Road, Southend, was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for charges involving the sexual assault of a child under 13 and the creation and possession of indecent photographs during his appearance at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, December 2.
Ian Ortis will additionally serve an extended licence of eight years and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
The offences occurred between January 1, 2018, and his arrest on Monday, March 21.
The forty-year-old, Ian Ortis, was apprehended following the receipt of information by our Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) indicating that registered sex offender Ian Ortis, who is on a lifetime parole, had been accessing obscene photos of minors online.
Authorities confiscated five devices from his residence.
Forensic examination revealed imagery of Ian Ortis perpetrating sexual assault against his victim.
Ian Ortis was recalled to prison immediately.
Detective Constable Matthew Wright, investigating, said: “This footage was challenging to watch.
“Ian Ortis is a predator and a risk to others. Our communities are safer now that he is behind bars.
“My team are dedicated to making sure anyone who is intent on harming any child is caught, stopped and brought to justice through the courts.”
Ian Ortis was charged with:
- Assault of a child under 13 by penetration
- Sexual assault of a child under 13
- Causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
- Three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child
- Two counts of making indecent photographs of a child
- Three counts of distributing or showing indecent photographs or indecent pseudo-photographs of a child or children
- Taking indecent photographs of a child
- Attempted rape of a child
