In 2024, Umar Dawood, a Redditch Paedophile and former children’s charity worker and Islamic Religion imam, was jailed for online grooming of a minor.
Umar Dawood, a resident of Redditch in Worcestershire, instructed youngsters locally and also volunteered for the children’s charity, according to West Mercia Police.
The 36-year-old admitted guilt to three crimes during a prior hearing and received a three-year prison sentence at Worcester Crown Court.
Umar Dawood was issued a sexual harm prevention order and mandated to register as a sex offender.
Umar Dawood, residing on Evesham Road, was incarcerated on June 10 after confessing to inducing a youngster under the age of 13 to participate in sexual behaviour.
Umar Dawood received a nine-month concurrent sentence for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor as an adult, along with a one-month concurrent term for possessing extreme pornography.
Detective Sergeant Pete Wheeler, of West Mercia Police’s child sexual exploitation section, stated: “Umar Dawood previously occupied a position of trust and served as a local imam instructing children in the community.” He additionally volunteered with a local children’s charity.
The results of this investigation contribute to preventing him from working with children in the future, and we anticipate that it will offer some reassurance that this offence has resulted in a jail sentence.
