Back in 2013, Nathan Wright, a Tooting Paedophile and roller skating celebrity, who showcased her talent before millions during the London Olympics opening ceremony, was incarcerated for engaging in sexual relations with a 14-year-old admirer in a parking lot.

Nathan Wright, bizarrely defined by a court as a ‘role model for youth’, was initially approached by the teenager via YouTube after she viewed one of his skating videos.

The duo thereafter commenced regular communication, with the adolescent victim feeling ‘flattered’ by Nathan Wright’s attention towards her.

Edna Leonard, the prosecutor, stated that it was evident from the outset of their interaction that the child was merely 14 years old.

Derby Crown Court was informed that Nathan Wright, now 38, from Tooting, London, coerced the teenager into performing a sexual act on a webcam, subsequently recording himself engaging in a sexual act and transmitting the footage to her.

Miss Leonard stated throughout the court that they subsequently met at a roller skating event, where Nathan Wright was approached by several people seeking photographs with him.

The victim, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, was included among them, and the couple discreetly departed to engage in sexual actions with one another.

The court was informed that they reconvened at an event at Rollerworld in Derby on 21 October of the previous year. Nathan Wright instructed the adolescent to don garments that could be readily disrobed.

Nathan Wright persuaded the schoolgirl to slip away from a group of adults, and they had sex in a car park.

Recorder Paul Mann QC, sentencing, told Nathan Wright, who also took part in the Paralympic Games opening ceremony: ‘You are known as an accomplished roller-skater and have your profile on the internet.

‘You have, through your skating, the opportunity to become a role model for young people.

‘There must be young people who have followed you who feel let down by the offences you have committed.’

Nathan Wright, who admitted sexual grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child, was jailed for five years.

He was also told he could not use the internet to contact anyone under 16 and was put on the sex offenders’ register.

The court heard that Nathan Wright had previously been jailed for four-and-a-half years for a rape he committed when he was 18.

In a very odd manner, Jonathan Straw, defending, said the girl was a willing partner in their meetings and had sexual experience before meeting him.

He added: ‘Before the text friendship developed, however inappropriately, there was genuine feeling on both sides. This is not a case where she was pressured.

‘Unfortunately, the very rapid, almost explosive use of social networking among young people can give rise to these sorts of difficulties.’
