Darren Barrett, the Croydon Paedophile, a man from South London, convicted of sexually abusing a child, has been sentenced to imprisonment following the victim’s courageous disclosure many years later. Darren Barrett, 40, of Coventry Road, Croydon, was charged with two charges of indecent assault on July 22, 2022, following a Metropolitan Police investigation initiated when his victim—whose identity is protected for legal reasons—came forward in August 2021.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated: “Detectives initiated an investigation in August 2021 following a report from an individual who alleged that they had been sexually assaulted during childhood.”
Darren Barrett was found guilty on both charges at Croydon Crown Court and sentenced to 18 months for one charge and nine months for the other, to be served concurrently. Detective Constable Chamberlain, who conducted the investigation, stated: “It must have been exceedingly challenging for the victim to come forward and recount their experiences after so many years.” I anticipate that [they] will ultimately attain closure.
“This inquiry and subsequent conviction illustrate that the Metropolitan Police will treat all allegations of sexual abuse with utmost seriousness and will pursue evidence to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable, regardless of the time elapsed since the offences.” Darren Barrett was additionally placed on the Sex Offender Register for a duration of 10 years.
YET AGAIN, THE METROPOLITAN POLICE HAVE NOT RELEASED AN IMAGE OF THE PAEDOPHILE, WHICH MEANS NO ONE KNOWS WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR…
