The courage of a rape survivor has been commended following Kane Walker’s, the Swindon Rapist, conviction for rape, sexual assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Kane Walker, 21, formerly of County Road, Swindon, contested the charges but was convicted today (08/10) after a jury trial at Bristol Crown Court.

He has been sent to jail for sentencing on November 19.

On March 6 of the previous year, the victim, a woman in her twenties acquainted with Kane Walker, informed the police that she had been raped by him and had endured an extended duration of controlling and coercive behaviour.

This involved placing an Airtag in her backpack, continuously activating her live location without her consent, and regulating her attire and social interactions.

Kane Walker was apprehended and interrogated the subsequent day.

Two days later, while on bail, Kane Walker sought to coerce the victim into retracting the complaint and further demonstrated his dominance by igniting a BMW owned by a relative of the victim.

He was indicted for arson and witness intimidation and incarcerated for these charges in November of the previous year.

Subsequent to an inquiry conducted by Wiltshire Police’s CID, Kane Walker was indicted on several sexual offences against the victim and detained in custody pending trial.

Today, Kane Walker was convicted of one count of rape, sexual assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Major Crime Investigator Catherine Baird said, “Firstly, I’d like to say how proud I am of the victim and how much I admire her bravery throughout this process.

“Kane Walker attempted to scare her into dropping the case, but she showed great courage and his awful actions were then used as evidence in this trial.

“I hope today’s verdict means she can now start to heal and move forward with her life.

“She is a survivor and took a stand against this dangerous bully, and her bravery and strength will help to protect other women.

“No woman should have to endure what Kane Walker subjected her to.

“I am glad justice has been served, and I thank the victim, the witnesses in the case and the members of the jury for helping to achieve this.”
