Paul Mosley Derby Child Killer DEADPaul Mosley Derby Child Killer DEAD

Paul Mosley, the notorious Derby Child Killer, found guilty of the homicides of six young children, has passed away at the age of 58.

Paul Mosley, together with the children’s parents, Mick and Mairead Philpott, intentionally ignited a fire at a residence in Allenton on May 11, 2012.

The fire, unfortunately, claimed the lives of the children, who were all asleep upstairs.

After a seven-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court in 2013, Paul Mosley and the Philpotts were found guilty of six charges of manslaughter.

Each individual bore responsibility for the horrible murders deemed one of the UK’s most sombre days this century.

The fatal and devastating fire was orchestrated by five fathers of the children, including Mick Philpott, who enlisted the assistance of his wife and friend Paul Mosley to ignite the flames at the base of the stairs of their residence on Victory Road.

The objective was for him to save the children, but despite the diligent efforts of neighbours and emergency personnel, six children perished.

Jade Philpott, age 10, and her brothers John, age 9, Jack, age 8, Jesse, age 6, and Jayden, age 5, perished alongside their half-brother Duwayne, age 13.

Sentencing the trio following the trial, Justice Mrs Kate Thirlwell KC said: “All three of you are responsible for the deliberate setting of that fire. All three of you are responsible for those deaths.

“I have not the slightest doubt that you, Michael Philpott, were the driving force behind this shockingly dangerous enterprise.

You, Mairead Philpott, the mother of all of those children and you, Paul Mosley, a family friend, assisted him.

“It was a wicked and dangerous plan, and you (Philpott) put it into effect with the assistance of your two codefendants.

“You poured petrol on the floor. Paul Mosley was responsible for removing the containers from your home.

“You (Philpott) set light to it, and after a short while, Mairead Philpott spoke to the emergency services. It became clear that there was no chance of a successful rescue, and the children perished. You (Paul Mosley) have young children of your own.

“You must have appreciated the appalling risk to which these six children were to be exposed when this fire was started in their home.

“And yet you were prepared to go along with the plan and to join in with it to please your then friend, Michael Philpott.

“I am quite sure that one of your tasks that night was to remove the petrol containers from the scene so that the attack would appear to have come from outside.

“You enjoyed the attention that you gained from your proximity to the fire. You boasted of being arrested and bailed for six counts of murder. You could not help telling people that this was a plan that had gone wrong.”

In 2021, Paul Mosley was released partway through his sentence but recalled and then later released again in November 2023.

The judge jailed Philpott, now 69, for life (NOT REALLY LIFE OF COURSE) while his wife, now 44, and Paul Mosley were jailed for 17 years.

While Mick Philpott remains in prison, Mairead Philpott was released in 2020 with a new identity, a new place to live, and a regular income.
