In an utterly mental and pointless waste of money tribunal, Sussex Police managed to conclude that a Sussex police officer, DS Seb Day, would have been terminated had he still been working for them following an investigation that revealed he had sexually harassed a female co-worker.
DS Seb Day, 39, assigned to the Brighton and Hove division, underwent a misconduct hearing on Monday, September 15, presided over by an independent Legally Qualified Chair (LQC) at Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes.
He confronted accusations of sexually harassing a female police staff member on 23 April 2021 by transmitting sexually suggestive text messages both during and outside of duty hours.
The accusation was a violation of professional conduct rules, including authority, respect, civility, and discreditable behaviour.
DS Seb Day was suspended on full pay upon the reporting of the charges and the initiation of an investigation. He tendered his resignation in November 2022.
The panel determined that the claim of sexual harassment was substantiated and constituted gross misconduct.
DS Seb Day would have faced dismissal had he not resigned from the force, and he will now be included on the College of Policing Barred list, which will preclude any return to policing.
