A Birmingham paedophile sex offender, Allan Richards, has received an additional sentence after another victim emerged upon recognising him in an internet article.
Allan Richards, 63, currently homeless, is serving a 22-year prison sentence following his conviction for 40 offences at Birmingham Crown Court in 2016.
Upon viewing the case in the media, the survivor identified Allan Richards as the individual who had sexually assaulted him in his youth. He informed us of this in 2022, necessitating an additional inquiry into Richards’ misconduct.
The maltreatment occurred in Rugeley throughout the 1990s. Allan Richards was an active police officer with West Midlands Police at that time.
Subsequent to the interview concerning the offences, we obtained the requisite evidence to charge Allan Richards with two counts of indecent assault on a minor and one count of inducing a minor to engage in an act of gross indecency.
Allan Richards refuted the charges but was convicted by a jury during a prior trial at Stafford Crown Court in August of this year. He received a three-year prison sentence at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, September 5. His sentence will be served consecutively to the one he is now serving.
