A Cardiff Paedophile, Alexander Dale, who sexually molested an 11-year-old girl, was apprehended because of facial recognition technology.
Alexander Dale, 31, seized the girl and forcibly forced her to the ground when she was walking her dog between Cardiff Golf Club and Pentwyn Road.
On October 23, 2024, Alexander Dale approached a 15-year-old girl on a bus travelling from Barry and displayed sexual messages on his phone.
Detectives obtained CCTV footage from the bus and, utilising Retrospective Facial Recognition, swiftly identified Alexander Dale as the culprit.
He was apprehended, indicted, and detained within a week.
Retrospective Facial Recognition Technology analyses static photographs of unidentified individuals by contrasting them with a database of reference images.
Subsequent enquiries verified that Alexander Dale utilised a mobile application, associated with his email address, to purchase his bus ticket.
He admitted guilt to sexual assault and soliciting a youngster to participate in sexual conduct.
Today, Alexander Dale received a 23-month prison sentence at Newport Crown Court and is additionally subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
