In 2022, our Child Abuse, Trafficking, and Exploitation Team initiated an investigation into 67-year-old Graham Cockerill of Elwy Circle, Ash Green, Coventry.

Graham Cockerill was alleged to have sexually assaulted three women. The initial victim, who was under 13 at the time, described assaults by Graham Cockerill occurring in the Coventry region from 2016 to 2022. Another victim came forward to authorities and revealed offences committed by Graham Cockerill during the 1970s, when they were between the ages of nine and fourteen, in the Meriden area.

During the inquiry, an additional victim was identified, who was in her 40s at the time. She regrettably deceased in 1995 and had never disclosed the offences to law enforcement.

In June, after a trial at Warwick Crown Court, Graham Cockerill was convicted of three counts of sexual assault on a girl under the age of 13 involving inappropriate touching.

  • Two charges of indecent assault against a female minor under the age of 14
  • One charge of indecent assault on a female over the age of 16

On Tuesday, August 5, he received a seven-year prison sentence at Warwick Crown Court. He received a 10-year restraining order for one victim, a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and will be permanently registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
