The Thornaby Paedophile, Daniel Scott, 40, was jailed on Monday, July 28, after appearing before Teesside Crown Court, having been convicted of attempted rape and sexual assaults on a young girl.

The victim endured sexual assault for several years by Daniel Scott, commencing with the initial incidence at the age of 14.

A detective commended a victim’s courage in stepping forward to offer testimony that resulted in an eight-and-a-half-year sentence for her abuser.

Detective Sergeant Bonnie Dowson, who investigated said: “Daniel Scott took advantage of the victim’s vulnerabilities in order to sexually assault her.

“He has now been given a custodial sentence which will prevent him from abusing anyone else.

“The bravery of the victim in coming forward and giving evidence, will no doubt safeguard others from Daniel Scott.

“Sexual assaults like this will always be thoroughly investigated and those responsible should expect to be put before the courts. Please come forward and speak to police if you have ever been a victim of a sexual offence, where we can help victims to access support services and bring those responsible to justice.”
