A victim of Limerick Paedophile child sex offender, Joseph Hogan, has disclosed his treatment in a public hospital corridor subsequent to Hogan’s release from prison last March.
Images of convicted child rapist Joseph Hogan have been disseminated online by a victim of the 71-year-old, who worries he continues to endanger the public.
He was incarcerated for 10 years at Midlands Prison for the rape of his niece, Sonya Stokes, who was between the ages of 7 and 11 at the time, and who subsequently posted the photographs.
She wrote in a social media post today that it is “all about awareness.”
“Be careful nurses & children & elderly he might make a pass ‘cause that’s all he be able to do he’s too weak for anything else by the look of it. I guess the badness finally caught up on him.”
“He is a well-known convicted high-risk sex offender was tagged in UK for hurting babies & children as young as 9months old girls & boys as young as 7 from Ireland & UK for over 50 years.”
After Joseph Hogan had left prison in March he told the Sunday World to ‘f**k off’ and denied he had done anything wrong.
When asked if he felt any remorse for his depraved crimes against children he said: “Would you ever f**k off and leave me alone. Just go away and leave me alone.”
When told Sonya had been waiting to confront him on his release Joseph Hogan said: “I don’t want to apologise because I didn’t do f**king nothing.
Asked whether he felt any sense of shame over his litany of crimes against four known child victims, Joseph Hogan blasted: “I don’t feel shame because I done nothing.
Sonya previously told the Sunday World she was furious when Joseph Hogan was taken from prison in taxi past the gates when she had been waiting for him.
“I’m absolutely disgusted with the system,” she said.
“I wanted to shout at him that I’m not a little girl anymore … that I’m no longer afraid of him.
“But they protected him. The animal, the paedophile was let out and they got him a taxi and let it drive around the back to keep him hidden. I’m screaming inside. I just cannot believe they protected him.”
“I wanted to catch him and stream it on social media so everyone would know what he looks like because he is still a very real danger to every child in this country.”
Joseph Hogan was sentenced to 15 years in 2015 for raping niece Sonya, having previously been jailed in the 1970s for assaulting another young girl.
The jury at the Central Criminal Court convicted him of one count of attempted rape, three counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault at a house in Co Limerick between December 1984 and December 1988.
Mr Justice Paul Carney said he could find nothing of substance in favour of the accused and therefore nothing was discounted or suspended from the sentence.
In a victim impact report read into the court in her presence, victim Sonya, who waived her anonymity, said her uncle had stolen her childhood from her.
She said: “His sick twisted mind stole my innocence forever, my childhood, my teenage years, my dignity, my trust in relationships.”
The court heard that in 1973, Joseph Hogan, originally from Rose Court, Keys Park in Limerick, was jailed in Ireland for six months for an indecent assault of a similar nature.
In 1974, he was convicted in the UK for the indecent assault of a girl aged under 14.
Joseph Hogan returned to Ireland from the UK with his wife and they had a number of children.
In 1995 and 1998 he was convicted of indecent assaults committed after the abuse of his niece.
Additionally, Joseph Hogan was jailed for 22 months in March 2013 for breaches of orders under the Sex Offenders Act by living in houses with children in 2007 and 2009.
“They knew that he was a convicted paedophile,” Sonya said.
“And they [the authorities] still allowed the likes of me to be hurt by him. I should have been protected from him as a kid, social services should have protected me.
“Instead, they allowed him to get married and have children. They allowed him to come and go from the UK as a free citizen.
“I understand they didn’t know me at the time, but they did know about all the other little kids.
