The Newcastle Paedophile, Kai Bell who unknowingly participated in explicit online communications with individuals he thought were youngsters has been incarcerated.
Kai Bell, alias Ben Ryan Barclay, communicated with several decoys impersonating 12-year-old girls.
He transmitted sexual images and films of himself, thereafter coordinating a time and location for a meeting with the aim to perpetrate additional offences.
Kai Bell, now 20 years old, was apprehended in June of the previous year and subsequently charged with multiple charges in September for violating his release conditions.
Kai Bell, residing on Saint Peters Road, Newcastle, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court in February of this year, where he entered a guilty plea to 13 charges. These included three counts of attempting to induce a child under 13 to view an image of sexual activity, two counts of attempting to induce a child aged 13-15 to view an image of sexual activity, two counts of attempting to incite a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, four counts of sexual communication with a child, and one count of meeting a child following grooming.
On Friday, June 13, he appeared at the same court where he was sentenced to six years in prison, having spent the initial two months of his term in a young offenders’ institution until he reaches the age of 21. He will additionally serve an additional four years on an extended licence upon his release.
Kai Bell will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and has been issued a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Northumbria Police’s Detective Constable Christopher Gibson said: “It’s clear from this case that Bell is a dangerous predator who was talking to multiple decoys at once from several vigilante groups – believing they were all real girls.
“Thanks to the excellent work of our dedicated officers, he has been brought before the courts to face justice.”
Det Con Gibson added: “The protection and support of the most vulnerable members in our communities is one of our Force’s top priorities – and I’m glad our dedication to this case means Kai Bell will not be amongst our communities for quite some time.
“Kai Bell’s sentence and the preceding investigation reaffirms this commitment to doing everything in our power to bring these offenders before the courts.
