Ross Lacey Isle of Wight rapist - Gort Road East Cowes

The Offender Database reported that after raping a woman on the Isle of Wight, a man, Ross Lacey, the East Cowes Rapist, was imprisoned for seven years. Following a trial at Isle of Wight Crown Court, Ross Lacey, 37, was sentenced to rape on December 7, 2023.

In early 2019, the victim had been asleep and under the effects of drugs and drink, according to the court, when Lacey took advantage of her and sexually assaulted her. She said that his acts offended and embarrassed her, and later in May 2021, she plucked up the bravery to tell police about it.

Later in February 2022, Lacey was accused of rape; he denied this. The matter went to trial on December 4, 2023; the jury found Lacey guilty.

Ross Lacey, of Gort Road in East Cowes, was imprisoned for seven years and given an indefinite restraining order after appearing on Friday, 26 July at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Police Staff Investigator Louisa Parkin, the case officer, said: ” Reporting this event to police took immense courage, as did finding the grit and resilience to see the investigation through to this stage.

“The victim in this case not only suffered a terrible sexual assault but also felt ashamed of what Ross Lacey had done to her. This will now result in Lacey spending a significant period in prison.

“Rape and sexual offences have a long-lasting impact on survivors, and I hope that this result reassures those affected by sexual abuse that we take these allegations very seriously and will do everything in our power to support victims and take action against perpetrators.”
