A Truro woman sex pest, India Carron, who had sex in public outside Truro Cathedral has been given a slap on the wrist. India Carron was seen by members of the cathedral congregations having sex in the fire exit of the historic building one day in January.

The 29-year-old, India Carron, of Chough House in Truro, and her partner at the time, 42-year-old Ryan Staffiere, were arrested by police for outraging public decency following the incident earlier this year. India Carron and Ryan Staffiere had been due to face the same charges before Truro Magistrates Court but her partner died before his court appearance.

Ryan Staffiere, 42, became addicted to alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine and had been sleeping rough on the streets in Cornwall for the better part of two decades. He was found dead inside his temporary housing cabin at County Hall on Tuesday, February 11.

A sentencing hearing at the magistrates court on Friday was told by prosecutor Chris Rendell that “some people from the church and some members of the public could have seen it as it was in the fire exit of the cathedral”.

Mr Rendell said for everyone’s benefit he would not go into detail as the charge speaks for itself. A probation officer said dark haired India Carron, who admitted one charge of doing an act of outraging public decency by engaging in sexual intercourse, had been “very embarrassed about it” and said it had been a “spur of the moment thing”.

“It was a mistake and she is very apologetic and embarrassed about it,” she told the court.

India Carron was sentenced to a 12 month community order by Truro magistrates court and given a six week night-time curfew. The magistrates told her: “It was outrageous behaviour outside the cathedral. We are not going to go into that, it was completely uncalled for.”

India Carron also admitted a series of shoplifting offences and was ordered to pay £335 compensation.
