Police have launched an investigation following the ‘rape’ of a teenager in the city centre of Glasgow, in Sauchiehall Lane.

The force said they received a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman at 1.55am today.

We previously reported that officers had taped off Sauchiehall Lane between Elmbank Street and Holland Street and one cop was seen standing guard at the entrance to the lane on Holland Street earlier today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55am on Friday, November 15, 2024 we received a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in Sauchiehall Lane between the junction with Elmbank Street and Holland Street in Glasgow.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
