In 2021, Stefan Antonio Slack, a 27-year-old repeat child sex offender from Harrogate, was jailed after attempting to incite a 15-year-old girl and her friend into sexual activity.
Stefan Antonio Slack, of Avenue Street, Harrogate, was sentenced at York Crown Court to three and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court heard that in late 2018, Slack used Snapchat to groom a 15-year-old girl, sending explicit messages and suggesting a physical meeting for sexual activity involving her and a friend. The teenager took a screenshot of the communications and alerted an adult, leading to a police investigation and his subsequent arrest.
Recorder Dafydd Enoch QC noted that Slack had demonstrated a persistent sexual interest in children, pointing to a previous conviction in 2012 for an identical offence involving an 11-year-old child. The judge emphasised that previous court intervention and police monitoring had failed to curb his behaviour before handing down the custodial sentence. In addition to his prison term, Slack was made subject to strict ongoing public protection measures.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Slack was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He was also made subject to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to ensure strict ongoing monitoring of his digital communications, internet access, and social media usage upon release.
