In 2022, a Farnley man, Shaun Hamilton, was sentenced to five years in prison in 2022 for the sexual exploitation and grooming of an adolescent girl who was under the age of 18.
Shaun Hamilton, 34, of Whincover Gardens, Farnley, was charged in 2021 with six offences of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 as a person over the age of 18.
Following a trial at Leeds Crown Court on October 14, 2022, he was convicted of two offences.
He was sentenced today to five years’ imprisonment on one count and six months on the other, with both sentences to be served concurrently.
He has been issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prohibits any contact with the victim or any unsupervised individual under the age of 16, and he will be recorded on the Sex Offenders Register for the duration of his life.
The victim initially felt unable to engage with police or partner agencies when social services, education, and health services initially raised concerns. However, she later came forward to provide an account after she ceased contact with Hamilton.
