A 26-year-old London man has been sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment at Southampton Crown Court after admitting to sending sexual communications to two children and breaching a Sexual Risk Order.

Samuel Jamieson, of Brook Drive, London, appeared for sentence on Tuesday 29 September 2026 following an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary’s Eastleigh Criminal Investigation Department.

The court heard that the offences were committed across the Southampton and Bursledon areas. Between 1 December 2025 and 20 January 2026, Jamieson engaged in illicit sexual conversations with two children aged under 16.

Detectives also uncovered a pattern of non-compliance with court-mandated preventative orders. Between 1 September 2025 and 2 February 2026, Jamieson committed three separate breaches of a Sexual Risk Order (SRO). Among the violations was the unlawful possession of an unregistered device capable of connecting to the internet, which he was prohibited from owning or using without prior police notification.

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, both child victims are entitled to automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any information, names, addresses, or images that could lead to the public identification of the complainants is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Jamieson entered guilty pleas to all charges:

Two counts of engaging in sexual communications with a child

Three counts of breaching a Sexual Risk Order

The judge handed down an immediate determinate custodial sentence of 18 months’ imprisonment. Under UK determinate sentencing rules, Jamieson will serve 50 per cent of the 18-month sentence in prison custody before being released on licence under probation supervision for the remaining term.

Alongside the custodial term, the court ordered:

Continued restrictive conditions under preventative sexual harm legislation

Mandatory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003

Officer in the case Detective Constable David Trathan stated:

“We continue to work tirelessly to target those who attempt to exploit and sexually abuse children, whether in the real world or virtually.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to the victims and their families in this case for coming forward and reporting Jamieson’s crimes and supporting us throughout our investigation.

“It’s not an easy thing to do, but their courage has ensured that a dangerous and predatory man will now face the consequences of his actions in prison.

“We always take allegations of this nature extremely seriously and work extremely hard to bring offenders to justice. Anyone who has any concerns at all about child abuse can contact us at any time.”
