Ronald Fletcher, then aged 37, of Welwyndale Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment (60 months) at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 August 2026 after being convicted of two sexual offences against a child.

The criminal proceedings followed an investigation by Derbyshire Police into the sexual abuse of three children.

The court heard that Fletcher targeted one of the children, carrying out physical sexual assaults while other co-defendants engaged in wider offences.

Following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court in May 2026, the jury found Fletcher guilty of:

  • Two counts of sexual touching against a child

Sentencing Fletcher on 20 August 2026, the judge imposed a total custodial sentence of five years’ imprisonment.

The court also made Fletcher subject to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), ordered lifetime notification on the Sex Offenders Register, and issued a lifetime restraining order in respect of the three children.

Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing sexual offences, Fletcher is required to serve two-thirds (40 months / 3 years and 4 months) of his 60-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for automatic statutory release on licence. His projected release date falls in December 2029, whereupon he will remain subject to licence supervision in the community until the expiration of the full term in August 2031.
