In 2018, the Offender Database reported that Richard Nunn, then of Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, was sentenced at Hull Crown Court.

Richard Nunn was handed a three-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent photos of a child. The court heard that Richard Nunn used sophisticated software to access and download child abuse material, including two specific file-sharing programs and a privacy-focused internet browser designed to hide his online activities from law enforcement.

Following a forensic analysis of his computer, investigators discovered highly incriminating search terms, including “PTHC torrent” (Pre-Teen Hard Core). The material found spanned all legal categories, with the most severe (Category A) showing children as young as seven years old being raped. Additionally, Richard Nunn was found in possession of extreme pornography depicting sexual acts involving animals.

During the sentencing on December 18, 2018, the judge acknowledged the seriousness of the offence but ultimately decided to suspend the custodial sentence. In addition to the suspended term, Richard Nunn was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, subjecting him to mandatory notification requirements and monitoring by the police.
