Police forces across the West Midlands and Warwickshire are appealing for information from the public to assist in tracing 31-year-old Damon Smith, who is currently wanted on recall to prison after breaching the conditions of his probation licence.
Smith is described as being approximately 5ft 6in tall. Authorities have confirmed that he maintains close ties to Coventry, Nuneaton, and Bedworth.
The public has been instructed not to approach Smith directly, but to contact emergency services immediately by dialling 999 upon any sighting.
The appeal coincides with details emerging from a 2024 investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material.
The inquiry commenced after a woman contacted police after discovering illicit images stored on a mobile phone belonging to Smith.
Officers subsequently seized hardware attributed to him for specialist forensic extraction and digital analysis.
Forensic examinations conducted on two mobile devices linked to Smith confirmed the presence of:
- Indecent images of children spanning Category A, Category B, and Category C
- Prohibited images of children
- Extreme pornography
Case records indicate that the recovered files depicted children estimated to be between the ages of one and 13 years old.
Investigators also recovered data confirming search engine queries directed toward obtaining child sexual abuse media, alongside digital evidence showing that software specifically configured to conceal internet browsing activity and evade detection had previously been installed and operated on the device.
Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing lines of inquiry to apprehend Smith. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is urged to contact police on 101, dial 999 in an emergency, or provide details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
