A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of 24 charges, including rape, sexual assault, sexual contact, and attempted rape.

Philip May, 60, from Wem, Shrewsbury, was sentenced today (July 29) at Preston Crown Court after an investigation conducted by Lancashire Police. Three years prior, law enforcement was contacted by a lady who claimed to have endured severe sexual abuse by Philip May throughout her childhood.

During police investigations, a second lady was interviewed, who also corroborated that she had endured severe sexual abuse by Philip May during her childhood. The offence was claimed to have occurred between 2005 and 2009 in the Hesketh Bank region.

Philip May was subsequently issued a summons to appear in court on 24 charges, including rape, sexual assault, sexual touching, and attempted rape. He entered a plea of not guilty; nevertheless, after a trial, he was convicted of all charges on Wednesday, July 27.

He is required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence and may be considered for release after 20 years.

Philip May will be on the sex offenders registry indefinitely.

Even though Philip May received a lengthy sentence for horrific crimes, Lancashire Constabulary will not release his image.
