Patrick Leo Devine, then aged 80, of Ballynasilloe Avenue, Derry, was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court following a preliminary enquiry into historical sexual offences and threats to kill.
Devine appeared before Derry Magistrates’ Court for statutory committal proceedings regarding non-recent allegations.
The court heard that Devine faces multiple criminal charges alleged to have been committed over a two-year period between 1 January 1973 and 31 December 1975.
The charges against Devine include:
- Multiple counts of indecent assault
- Threats to kill
During the preliminary enquiry, it was accepted by the court that there was a prima facie case to answer, with no contrary submissions raised on Devine’s behalf.
The presiding magistrate formally ordered Devine to be returned for trial on indictment before Derry Crown Court.
