In November 2022, Pascal Jombla, then aged 45, of Hackney, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court to a substantial prison term after being convicted of repeated rape and violent assault.
The court heard details regarding a Metropolitan Police investigation into a sustained attack in east London. Prosecutors outlined how Jombla targeted a vulnerable woman with mobility issues, dragging her into his residential address in Hackney. Jombla threatened to kill the victim before repeatedly assaulting and raping her inside the property.
Medical examinations subsequently confirmed that the victim suffered extensive facial injuries, severe body bruising, and a fracture to her lower back as a direct result of the assault.
When Jombla eventually fell asleep, the victim managed to call out for assistance through the front door. A passerby overheard her cries and contacted emergency services, allowing Metropolitan Police officers to attend, rescue the victim, and arrest Jombla at the scene.
Following judicial proceedings at Wood Green Crown Court, Jombla was found guilty of multiple counts of rape and physical assault.
