In 2015, a judge in Liverpool declared that Nigel Dalton, a violent paedophile child molester, poses a genuine risk of harming children, calling his conduct repugnant and depraved.
A pervert who committed “disgusting” sexual acts against a young girl was imprisoned for over 11 years.
After making friends with her family, Nigel Dalton mistreated his victim between the ages of nine and fourteen.
Today, Judge Stephen Everett declared that Dalton had shown “sheer perversion” and that if he had been able to impose a life term, he would have done so.
Dalton, 52, who used to live on Cranfield Road in Crosby but is currently incarcerated at HMP Risley for other offences, entered a guilty plea to two charges of indecent assault and seven counts of indecency with children.
The prosecutor, Charles Lander, claimed that in exchange for candy and trips to McDonald’s, he coerced the child and another girl, who was seven at the time, to engage in sex acts and play sex games.
According to Mr. Lander, Dalton, who was in his late 30s at the time, also forced the boy to bathe with him.
The youngsters were too young to comprehend what was going on during the attacks, which occurred between the mid-1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, the court heard.
Dalton also acknowledged that he had violated a 2010 Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) after spending time alone with a different family in 2011.
As a victim impact statement was read to the court, the balding paedophile, dressed in a green coat and sporting a grey ponytail, covered his face with his palm and sobbed.
The woman claimed that Dalton, who bought her gifts and took her horseback riding, was someone she looked up to.
“Some of the things he asked us to do were strange, but I trusted him,” she remarked.
He had found a female younger than me, so when it was over, I felt excluded.
“I thought he loved me too, and I loved him.”
The court heard that she had self-medicated with drugs and alcohol, had flashbacks about his abuse, and had been diagnosed by a doctor with a personality disorder caused by his offence.
Dalton was found guilty of sexual assault against an eight-year-old in 2010.
He is presently serving a 35-month jail sentence for molesting a nine-year-old girl and has violated the resultant SOPO four times, including occasions when he made friends with families with additional young children in an effort to groom them.
The best mitigation, according to defence attorney Frank Dillon, was his client’s guilty plea, which spared his victims the agony of testifying in court.
Dalton wanted to apologise for his actions, he said.
According to Judge Everett, he was compelled to sentence Dalton in accordance with the rules in effect at the time of the offences.
“It is hard to find the right words to describe your behaviour,” he stated. It was the worst of its kind.
“You behaved in a repulsive and depraved manner toward these little youngsters.
You actually put young children at serious risk of serious injury.
