In November 2022, Mark Rand, then aged 64, of Blackwood Avenue, Rugby, was sentenced at court to 14 months in prison after being convicted of three child protection charges.
The court heard details regarding a Warwickshire Police investigation into the possession and making of illegal media. Prosecutors outlined how detectives executed a search warrant at Rand’s residence on 16 January 2020, seizing computer hardware and storage devices.
Forensic examination of the seized equipment revealed 3,027 indecent images and 141 indecent videos of children. During police questioning, Rand acknowledged downloading the material.
Rand was subsequently convicted of three counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child.
On Thursday 3 November 2022, the presiding judge handed Rand a 14-month custodial sentence and placed him on the sex offenders register for 10 years, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
