In 2022, Mark Aitken, the Falkirk Paedophile, a then 40-year-old man who sexually assaulted a vulnerable teenage girl and sent her a series of threatening messages, was incarcerated.

Mark Aitken of Falkirk subjected his victim to abuse on multiple occasions from February to April 2019 and also committed rape against her.

Mark Aitken received a seven-year term in the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, 30 September 2022.

Detective Inspector Forbes Wilson of the Public Protection Unit in Forth Valley stated, “I commend the sentencing of Mark Aitken, and our thoughts are firmly with his victim, who was just 16 at the time of the abuse, and whose courage deserves recognition.” I trust she has achieved closure with his incarceration.

Mark Aitken was a duplicitous individual who persistently spoke with his victim, instilling dread and distress. His strategy of intimidation culminated in the commission of rape.

Furthermore, he asserted that he was a police officer, exacerbating the discomfort she experienced.

Addressing sexual offences and menacing conduct is a priority for Police Scotland, and we will endeavour to eliminate offenders like Mark Aitken from our communities.
