In 2026, West Yorkshire Police’s Kirklees District Safeguarding Team launched an investigation and issued a public appeal for witnesses following an incident of indecent exposure committed against two young women in Slaithwaite.
The offence took place on the evening of Sunday 30 August 2026 between approximately 8:30 PM and 10:15 PM. According to investigating officers, two women were standing together beside a bus stop located on Manchester Road, close to the Paprika restaurant, when an unidentified man approached the vicinity. The suspect deliberately exposed himself to the pair and made lewd, inappropriate gestures in their direction.
Safeguarding detectives are actively appealing for the two women involved to come forward to ensure their welfare and assist in identifying the perpetrator. Officers have released descriptions of both potential witnesses based on local inquiries:
First woman: Described as having blonde hair, wearing light-coloured jogging bottoms and white trainers.
Second woman: Described as having brown hair, wearing a black coat with a fur-trimmed hood, black trousers, and white trainers.
In addition to tracing the two women, investigators are asking local residents, motorists with dashcam footage, and anyone who may have witnessed similar suspicious activity along Manchester Road to contact police.
