A 35-year-old man from Weymouth who carried out three counts of rape against a young child in North Dorset has been sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment at Winchester Crown Court.
Liam Robert Porter, of Weymouth, Dorset, appeared for sentence on Friday 9 October 2026 after entering guilty pleas to non-recent child sex abuse charges brought following an inquiry by Dorset Police.
The court was told that the offences occurred during two separate incidents at a residential address in Stalbridge, Dorset, between 2004 and 2007. The abuse remained hidden for nearly two decades until the survivor came forward to report the matter to police officers in November 2025.
Specialist detectives initiated an investigation, executing an arrest on Porter on 23 December 2025. Following recorded interviews under caution, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised three charges of child rape against him. Appearing at Winchester Crown Court on 24 July 2026, Porter formally pleaded guilty to all indictments.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims of sexual offences and child complainants are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational institutions, or photographs capable of leading to the public identification of the victim is strictly prohibited under UK law.
