The Offender Database reported that Lee O’Shea, a Manchester Paedophile Child Molester, repeatedly sexually assaulted his neighbour, a child, after he hired her to babysit his children.
Kara Jones, at 20 years old, was 13 when Lee O’Shea, now 39, initiated his abusive conduct towards her.
For four years, Lee O’Shea engaged in sexual relations with Kara and referred to himself as her lover.
In August 2018, he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being convicted of sexual offences against Kara.
Kara, from Manchester, has courageously relinquished her right to anonymity to promote awareness of child grooming.
The stay-at-home mum says: “When Lee hired me as his babysitter, I was so excited to earn some extra pocket money.
“But instead, he groomed me and tricked me into thinking he was my boyfriend, when deep down, he was a sick paedophile.”
In June 2012, Lee O’Shea, then 32, who lived next door to Kara, asked her to babysit his children every morning while he went to the gym.
O’Shea offered to pay Kara £20 each time.
Kara said, “My parents let me do it as they trusted Lee.
“He had been our neighbour for two years, and his kids were friends with my little sister.
“During my first week, whenever Lee came home from the gym, he seemed really shy.
“He avoided eye contact with me and mumbled goodbye as I left to go back home.”
Two weeks later, Lee O’Shea invited Kara to stay for lunch.
Kara said, “While the kids played upstairs, Lee chatted with me about school and boys.
“I enjoyed his company.
“After that, every time I babysat, he asked me to stay a couple of hours longer.
“Whenever my mum texted me asking where I was, I lied.
“I told her that Lee was still out and I was watching the kids.
“I knew that she wouldn’t approve, after all, he was nearly 20 years older than me.”
Soon, Lee O’Shea began showering Kara with compliments and even bought her perfume and clothes.
By the end of the summer holidays, Lee asked Kara to come to his house in the evenings and on the weekends to see him.

Kara said, “I lied to my parents and told them I was still babysitting.
“Lee called me beautiful all the time.
“He told me how any boy in my school would be lucky to have me.
“He surprised me with tops, dresses, perfume and necklaces. Lee made me feel so special.”
One day, in February 2013, Lee O’Shea and Kara were making food in the kitchen when he kissed her.
Kara said, “He began to undress me and whispered in my ear that he’d be gentle with me.
“Then, we had sex, and I lost my virginity at age 13.
“Afterwards, Lee told me not to tell anyone because they’d never understand.”
A week later, Lee O’Shea asked Kara to be his girlfriend.
Kara was convinced the pair were in love, and they spent all their time together.
But five months later, Lee O’Shea became controlling.
Kara says: “He became paranoid and told me I wasn’t allowed to be around any men, including my dad.
“So when I was home, I avoided my dad by hiding in my room.
“Lee even forced me to play up at school so that I’d get sent home.
“Then he’d make me come over to have sex.”
Three years later, in January 2016, Kara was at Lee O’Shea’s house when her dad confronted the pair.
Kara says: “I heard a voice yelling and realised it was my dad.
“Lee quickly locked me in his living room cupboard.
“My dad saw my trainers and heard me in the cupboard. He demanded Lee unlock it, and Dad marched me home.
“There, I confessed everything to him and Mum.
“I told them Lee had been my boyfriend for four years.
“They were both mortified and quickly called the police.”
Officers took Kara’s phone as evidence, reading through their conversations that went back years.
The following day, Lee O’Shea was arrested.
Kara explained: “An officer told me that I was underage and that Lee had taken advantage of me.
“Suddenly, I felt sick. I burst into tears, telling my parents that I thought I was in love.”
In July 2018, Lee O’Shea, 39, of Hattersley, Manchester, was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child at Minshull Street Crown Court.
He was also charged with having an offensive weapon.
Lee O’Shea was jailed for eight and a half years and made to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
Kara says: “Now I’m older, I realise Lee was a predator.
“He tricked me and made me think he was my boyfriend, but he was really abusing me the whole time.
“I want other young girls to know that it isn’t their fault.
“I’m just so happy that Lee is off the streets and can’t hurt any more young girls.”
