A woman in Bodmin was subjected to a “campaign of abuse” by Kieran McKeowan from Plymouth, who was subsequently sentenced to over three years in prison.

Kieran McKeowan, then 27, of Chapel Street, Devonport, has entered a plea of guilty to a charge of engaging in coercive behaviour toward a woman at Bodmin between 2023 and 2024 at Truro Crown Court.

He isolated her from friends, threatened her with knives, and repeatedly assaulted her.

The charges of criminal damage, strangulation, assault, and threatening to murder her, to which he had pleaded not guilty, will continue to be on file.

Christopher Quinlan, the judge, sentenced him to 37 months in prison and issued him a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his victim until July 3, 2036.
